Wapaha Olowan (Flag Song)

Tunkasila yapi, tawa paha ki han.
Oihanke smi (he) nanjin kte lo.
Iyohlateya, oyate ki han, wicicagin kta ca,
Lecamun welo.

Translation

The grandfather's flag will stand forever (without end). Under it the people will grow, so I do this.

Some History and Symbolism

This red flag bears a circle of nine teepees representing the nine districts of the reservation. They stand for Porcupine, Wakpamni, Medicine Root, Pass Creek, Eagle Nest, White Clay, LaCreek, Wounded Knee, and Pine Ridge Districts.
